Learning Charms | Charlotte occupational therapy, speech therapy, Mommy and Me, and handwriting tutoring for kids!

Welcome to our 2nd year of summer camps at Learning Charms!   We are excited about our camps and another fun summer!

All of our camps max out at 15 campers  (with "My Kindergarten Friends" maxing 20) with a ratio of at least 1 staff to each 5 kids.   Each camp has ample play in our 1,000 square foot gym each day.   Some themes for this year include: Kooky Pens and Smencils (handwriting), Recycled Art and Green Thumbs (art /composting/gardening), Camp PLAY, Sensational Speech (led by speech therapist), Fancy Little Girls' Camp (all girls! crafts/arts), Fancy Letter Girls' Camp, Fine Motor Madness (crafts/arts/fine motor/gross motor fun), and more!

Remember that camps will close once we have registered 15 campers, so be sure to register now and get in on the fun!

I am in love with  Funfusion beads all over again.   These are a great fine motor activity for kids aged 4 years and up (or younger, if you buy the new "biggies").  You can buy an assortment of pegboard shapes, and beads (see the new glow in the dark to the left).

Your child puts one bead on each peg and then a grownup covers it with wax paper and irons it for several seconds and WOW, you have a fun project!

Skills this activity works on: fine motor, dexterity(lots of that), color discrimination, eye hand coordination, visual motor, visual perceptual, and pincer grasp.
What I really like as a parent: they are pretty inexpensive and offer a fun and non-threatening way to make art.  Even my 5 year old son LOVES them! Tip: Lay a sheet under work area so it is easier to clean up the tiny beads.
