Campers had fun today in our "Green Thumbs and Recycled Art" camp making these easy magnets.   We found a favorite picture in a magazine, pasted to the inside, and decorated.  We attached a magnet to the back!

A year ago I opened Learning Charms to a small group of campers and even a smaller group of regular clients.   A year later, we have grown substantially because our parents have spread the word and said such nice things about us. Music.4.Life is moving in their wing this weekend with their clients starting on Tuesday!  Happy birthday Learning Charms and thank you to our AWESOME kids and parents that have supported us.

How excited I am that Music.4.Life is moving into the music wing at Learning Charms!   Effective July 1st, John and Betsy Gurske and their talented staff will be offering year round music lessons in a variety of instruments.  Betsy will also continue her Kindermusik program at Learning Charms as well.  I have just signed my 9 year old daughter up for guitar with Mr. John and she is so excited!

This partnership will be a great addition to kid friendly services offered at Learning Charms.  As a resident of the community, I know that a one stop and convenient  location for music instruction is needed!  Presto!

About everyone has asked about the roses at Learning Charms! For the Moms wanting these same roses, they are called "Double Knock Out Rose- Rosa Radico".  I got them at Lowe's last summer.

Welcome to our 2nd year of summer camps at Learning Charms!   We are excited about our camps and another fun summer!

All of our camps max out at 15 campers  (with "My Kindergarten Friends" maxing 20) with a ratio of at least 1 staff to each 5 kids.   Each camp has ample play in our 1,000 square foot gym each day.   Some themes for this year include: Kooky Pens and Smencils (handwriting), Recycled Art and Green Thumbs (art /composting/gardening), Camp PLAY, Sensational Speech (led by speech therapist), Fancy Little Girls' Camp (all girls! crafts/arts), Fancy Letter Girls' Camp, Fine Motor Madness (crafts/arts/fine motor/gross motor fun), and more!

Remember that camps will close once we have registered 15 campers, so be sure to register now and get in on the fun!

Parents of rising JK and kindergarten:  We now have two "clubs" especially for this age group.   The Going to Kindergarten Club is a two hour, drop off class to encourage fine motor and handwriting skills in a fun and movement based curriculum.   This is ideal for boys that need a little boost prior to formal school.

We also have the "Early Writer's Club" .  This is a drop off class that is ideal for rising K students who are ready to learn a formal handwriting program.  This is a great class that is movement based and also has fun arts and crafts to encourage handwriting and fine motor skills.

These are fun ways to prepare your child for kindergarten and to give mom and dad some time to get those errands done!  Handwriting component is taught using Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. Screening is required for both clubs and space is limited to 5 children per club.

Have you heard?  We are now in network with Aetna and United Healthcare.  We are out of network with other carriers but your out of pocket may still be low.  Deductibles and co-pays are usually covered if you have a health care spending account.  Eligibility for occupational therapy and speech therapy must be determined directly from insurance plans, as all plans do not cover OT and Speech and some require pre-certification.  Call us is you have questions.

As far as summer seems to be from us, this is the time that I start putting together the curriculum and schedule for our 2nd year of summer camps at Learning Charms.

Camp Schedule and registration will be available on February 1st.   Camps will begin in early June this year.  Campers will enjoy our new gym springboard, balance beams, obstacle courses, and trampoline.

Returning camp themes will include: handwriting (manuscript and cursive), Fine Motor Madness (crafty focus to explore and improve fine motor skills), Fancy Letter Girls' Camp (journaling, friendship bracelets, crafts--rising 3rd-5th girls), and Sensational Speech (speech therapist led).  Some newbie camps include:  Little Fancy Girls' Camp (rising K-2nd), Recycleable crafts and green thumbs, and more.

May your holidays be filled with joy, fun, and lots of giggles with your family and children!  Thank you for your business in 2010!

I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with the children, parents, and staff at Saint Patrick Catholic School as their occupational therapist!  I will be doing kindergarten screenings for pencil grip, fine motor, handwriting, scissor skills, sensory motor and self-help on Wednesday, December 1st.   Screenings requests for older children may be made by teachers or parents on a case by case basis.
