Interactive Metronome (IM)
Interactive Metronome (IM) is an advanced brain-based treatment program designed to promote and enhance brain performance.
Clients learn to:
Interactive Metronome (IM) is based on the theories of temporal processing and is supported by tightly controlled randomized clinical research. IM is used with both children and adults, and is currently being used in many public and private schools, therapy centers, athletic training facilities, rehabilitation facilities and music schools throughout the country. IM Research Why Interactive Metronome at Learning Charms? Learning Charms is offering Interactive Metronome because it is high tech and offers quick progress for a higher level of clients that we work with. Although it has been successfully used for a number of diagnosis, we are using it to facilitate "brain training" for clients that are already successful but want to improve processing speed, sports related timing, attention, and overall performance in academic, home, and sports environments. Scheduling An initial IM screening is necessary to determine if a client has potential in the IM program. An IM screening takes 5-10 minutes and can be scheduled by contacting Learning Charms directly. The Interactive Metronome training program usually consists of either 12 or 15 forty five minute to one-hour private sessions with a Certified IM Practitioner which must be completed in 3-5 weeks. This program is successful only with intensive training over a short period of time. Some individuals will need more than 15 sessions if they have unusually impaired rhythm and timing skills. We recognize that this program requires a significant commitment of time and energy. Commitment to complete the course is necessary in order to ensure results. Summer I.M. Clinics We offer summer I.M. clinics for kids that cannot commit to the rigorous scheduling during the school year. Summer clinics are M-F for approximately 2 hours a day for a total of 3 weeks. The clinics are small group format and rotate through centers, including gross motor centers, IM centers, and fine motor centers. Please be sure to add yourself to our email list to get summer IM clinic schedules once available. Regular Pricing Session length will be determined upon IM screening. Session price is the same as individual occupational therapy. Clients will receive pre, mid and post test results that will measure progress. Clients will perform IM training using occupational therapist- led functional activities to give the appropriate challenge. One time $75.00 IM set up fee (non refundable) plus: 12 sessions of 45 minutes each: $1134.00 total 15 sessions of 45 minutes each: $1417.50 total Insurance IM may be covered under your health insurance group plan if it is part of an occupational therapy treatment plan. If you plan to submit for insurance coverage, the child must also receive an OT evaluation (or have an OT evaluation within the past year) along with a current treatment plan. We are in network with UHC and Aetna. Flexible Spending accounts will usually cover the cost of occupational therapy services, including IM. Private pay clients will not require a comprehensive OT evaluation. |
