on line reading programs

check out fast forword and reading assistant by scientific learning

We are a certified provider of on line reading  tutoring programs by Scientific Learning

Learning Charms is a certified provider of the Scientific Learning Reading products, Fast ForWord and Reading Assistant.   These are off site implementation programs, meaning you can do these where ever you have Internet.

These programs are offered by various companies and at various pricing.   My prices are deeply discounted and are just for those students that are independent enough to complete the computer activities alone, or with the help of their parent.  If your child has multiple disabilities or significant attentional issues then you may be best served by a provider that provides clinic based implementation.

Fast ForWord Reading Program
( an interactive internet based reading  tutoring program)

We are pleased to offer Fast ForWord (Scientific Learning) Programs to students wanting to improve in reading, phonemic awareness, auditory processing, listening comprehension, and working memory.

Years ago, this was only offered in a clinical setting, but now this technology can be completed in anywhere you have a computer and internet connection.  Because of this, parents find that this program is very easy to implement into their child's day.  Please visit our Fast ForWord page for more information.

Reading Assistant

The Reading Assistant program is designed to be used by beginning readers, English language learners, and struggling readers who have attained basic word recognition and decoding skills and are now building their vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. This includes students as young as first grade, all the way up to adults. Reading Assistant has solutions designed to implement with Response to Intervention programs for all student tiers. Reading Assistant is the only reading program that “listens” to students as they read out loud, intervenes when students falter, and automatically scores students’ oral reading. No other program or e-book provides comparable real-time guidance and feedback.

Reading Assistant software combines advanced speech recognition technology with scientifically-based interventions to help students strengthen their reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Reading Assistant software “listens” as a participant reads out loud. When the participant is challenged by a word, the software provides an example of correct pronunciation. The feedback to participants is non-judgmental, supportive, and individualized for those who have had minimal or no success in the past. Guided oral reading is a proven method for improving reading fluency.  There’s an in-depth overview of the Reading Assistant program on Scientific Learning's website:

Learning Charms' owner, Stephanie, tries out all technology before utilizing it with her clients.  Some things are keepers, and some things are not.  Fast ForWord is a keeper.  She uses Fast ForWord with her 3rd grade son who has auditory processing and attentional challenges.  These challenges have continually caused him to have difficulties at school and at home when it comes to reading and listening comprehension. Stephanie stated,  "I realized that he could really benefit from daily tutoring just to keep up with literacy at school.   With my work schedule, this simply wasn't possible.  Fast ForWord is his personal daily tutor.  He enjoys it and I can see that he is learning, understanding, growing and increasing in his confidence.  And, wow, I love how intense it is for the auditory processing component.  He still gets stumped from time to time on difficult concepts and thats when we utilize a 1:1 tutor to further teach the concept.  Once that has happened, he continues with Fast ForWord.  It has been a great experience for us!  I look forward to watching his continued progress".
